CN NEGOTIATION START WITH TOP TEAM

The UTU has opened negotiations for a new collective agreement with CN Rail. With contracts expiring on Dec. 31 the union put forward proposals to improve the workings conditions and wages of 6,000 employees the union represents. "The company has been extremely profitable for many quarters. Its stock value has skyrocketed. Executive salaries are up subtially," says Mike Hone, UTU Senior Vice President. "We're an important part of what's happening for CN. Now it's payback time, " Vice President Guy Scarrow says.

Members are advised not to block crossings at Ingersoll when lifting and or setting off. Information to date is the Government is reviewing CN operations in this matter.

Mileage committee advises mileage checks will be conducted every 15th and last day of the month. Any member booking off for miles should advise the Mileage Chairperson Dez Glass via e-mail fax or phone message.

The Christmas Party both Kids and Adults is under way. Make sure you register with Stan Chodkiewicz before November 13. All full dues paying members children, grand children allowed.

The Road Committee is investigating a code to claim overpayment of time returns. Local 344 Road Committee has been advised the Cats system will input the incorrect mileage or payment allotment but has no code for the member to advise Moncton CMC center of the over payment.
