F.R.P GratingA high strength material for stairway components, plant flooring, machinery guards, and wash racks, is fabricated from continuous glass fibers impregnated with chemical resistance and flame retardant polyester resin. A good electrical insulator, it is much lighter in weight than steel grating so it requires less structural support.
Exhaust Hoods
For ventilating open process tanks offer important advantages when manufactured from fiberglass reinforced plastic. These include outstanding chemical resistance, very light weight, and long service life with virtually no maintenance required.
Air Louvres
Resistance to corrosive and high humidity environments make FRP the ideal material for louvres that open and close under pressure to admit make-up air into process plants.
Made from specially selected resins can be tailored to provide excellent resistance to most acids, alkalis, salts, and organic liquids or gases. Less costly that other corrosion resistance pipe materials, FRP has better low temperature properties that the thermoplastic pipe and will withstand high temperatures often encountered in processing.
Fume Scrubbers
Made of FRP are generally less expensive than those make of lined or stainless steel, and usually have a longer service life. The light weight of these scrubbers also permits their installation on roof areas with out adding supporting steel work, freeing up valuable floor space for other plant equipment.
Cable Trays
Savings in weight, installations time, and initial cost are reported with the use of FRP instead of conventional metal trays to carry power cable and communication cable. In addition, the FRP trays are non-conductive, non-sparking, and fire retardant.
FRP Tanks
Can be fabricated to withstand the corrosive attack of most acids and alkalis at a wide range of operating temperatures. Less costly than stainless steel tanks, they will outlast the metal units with a minimum of maintenance. FRP tanks retain their high strength properties at low temperatures, storing liquids with a minimum heat loss. Because they are lighter in weight than steel tanks, they are easier to handle and install.
Poltruded Structural Shapes
Made of FRP are only one quarter as heavy as steel and two thirds the weight of aluminum. They offer an unlimited variety of applications in corrosive environments where strength is important and weight is critical. Poltruded structures are employed as tank supports and covers, industrial towers, frames, and machinery housings.
Cooling Towers
Cascading and spray-pipe system cooling towers can be protected from the corrosive attack of plant environments and contaminated cooling media by the fabricated FRP.
To protect the interiors of process and storage tanks from the corrosive attack of acids, salts, solvents, alkalis, and other chemicals, they can be lined with special formulations of polyester resins reinforced with fiberglass cloth. FRP linings of steel, concrete, or wooden tanks extend the life of such vessels, protect them from contamination, prevent moisture damage and provide resistance to temperature extremes.
Tank Bottoms
FRP is now being used extensively to replace the badly corroded bottoms of steel storage tanks in the petroleum industry, tanks which have been attacked externally by environmental corrosive and internally by oils, water and sediment.
