Blind Youth Program

While the active members of the Sarnia Lambton CCB White Cane Club are adults, it is recognized that, there is a segment of the blind and visually impaired population who are children and "young adults".

The Sarnia Lambton CCB White Cane Club financially supports, through the energies and efforts of various members, a program known as the "Blind Youth Club." The Blind Youth Club exists to respond through various activities, and to a variety of needs associated with blind youth. These areas are:

  • recreation and social events,
  • educational needs (eg: introduction to technical aids, computer lessons, etc.)
  • availability, accessibility and advocacy of service resources,
  • work experience at the Sarnia Lambton White Cane Center.

Cooperative liaison with local special needs educators is maintained so the Club can serve as a resource and facilitator as needs dictate.

Parents and educators' participation in Club activities is always encouraged. Sponsored information workshops are part of the Club program. The Blind Youth Club is open to anyone under the age of 21.
