April 27th: Rev. Christine Hillman, UU Church of Olinda, ON

Rev. Christine Hillman has been the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Olinda in Essex County, ON since 2001. She is also our congregation’s representative on the CUC Board of Trustees. Christine notes she happily preached here in 1998 while she was a seminary student at Meadville Lombard and living in SE Michigan. We are happy to have her back to speak to us again.

May 4: Allan McKeown

“What would William Osler, Canada’s Famous Physician, do?”

Sir William Osler was the most prestigious Canadian physician of the early 20th century. His teachings revolutionized the practice of medicine around the world. What would he think of our health care challenges today and what have we forgotten about some of the principles that he espoused.

May 11: Wendy Starr

“Mother's Day'”

Join Wendy as she shares with us some history, musings and traditions around this popular day of celebration. Some of us are mothers and all of us have mothers (whether or not they are still with us). Indigenous peoples refer to the earth as our mother. The word “mother” evokes many different thoughts and emotions to explore as we share this part of Mother’s Day together.

May 18: Sharing Circle. Facilitator TBA.

The Ojibway people use a “Sharing Circle” as a place where people can come together to learn, share, exchange thoughts and ideas and get to know each other better. To contribute to our UU Sharing Circle, please plan to share your thoughts and feelings with fellow members as we talk about the meaning of “spirituality” in each of our lives. Feel free to participate or not as you choose. As we say at the beginning of every service “We don’t have to think alike to love alike” and we are open to the different perspectives that each of us brings to the group. This type of sharing helps us to love and understand each other better.

May 25: Kevin MacKay

“The Sky Dragon Community Development Co-operative”
