150th  Anniversary

A Warm Welcome From The Rector

Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ;

The Parish Church of St. John-in-the-Wilderness has been a centre of mission and ministry for 150 years.  This Church has touched the lives of many people throughout its history, as a spiritual home and as a voice of hope and love in the wilderness of our world.  It is truly a gift and blessing from God.  We invite you to join us for the 150th Anniversary celebrations that will be taking place throughout 2006.  We will pray together, laugh together, share stories and food together, and give thanks to God in all that we do for St. John-in-the-Wilderness and the blessing that this Church has been in our lives.  We will also pray for God’s continued blessing on the mission and ministry of this congregation.

Come and celebrate with us!

Yours in Christ,

The Rev’d Robert Lemon

Rector, St. John-in-the-Wilderness

Anniversary Celebrations

Listed ahead in this brochure, there are many special events in store for you throughout 2006!   In addition to these events are the regular services, each one followed by a coffee hour.  These times of fellowship offer some of the finest goodies served along with tea, coffee, and juice, and of course, the very best smiles!

Our 150-year past has been thoroughly researched, and several interesting displays of records, items, and photos have been compiled for viewing at special events scheduled for 2006.

During early 2006, the parish will be building an addition on its existing hall in order to make room for the many activities offered here.  Come and check out the progress.

Commemorative Souvenirs

Painting:   An original 28x38" watercolour portrait of the church painted by local artist Kathryn Moser will be raffled during 2006.  Tickets will be on sale throughout the year, starting in December, 2005.  This is an internal raffle, so only a limited number of tickets will be sold.  Get yours today!

Mugs: Attractive mugs depicting both the original church building and the latest view including the new addition will be offered for sale over the year.

Note Sets: Sold as sets of five, notes you can keep or send to your friends displaying the watercolour painting in miniature on the front and blank on the inside for you to capture your best thoughts on paper!

Directory: A church directory of current parish members.

Commemorative Pamphlet:   A collection of historical facts and photos.
