Art Competition – for the past several years we have held an
art competition for local high school students. All artwork has Organ
Donation as its theme. The winner of this contest has their artwork
printed on placemats which are distributed to local restaurants during
Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week in April.
Sarnia Home Show – for several years SODA has had a booth at
the local Home Show in April. In 2007 we displayed the Trillium Gift of
Life quilts. One quilt had blocks that were made to honour Gift of Life
donors, and the other had blocks made by Gift of Life recipients. We hope
to have them again at the 2008 Home Show.
Hearts in Bars – this was an initiative begun 4 years ago at
Christmas time. We have since decided to do this in April, which is Organ
and Tissue Donation Awareness Month.
Jazz and Blues in the Village – SODA has an Awareness Booth
where we provide information on Organ and Tissue donation to those
attending the festival.
Past Awareness Events
In the past we have held a Celebration of Courage in April, during Organ
Donor Awareness Week. We have also participated in the Volunteer Fair,
which gave us an opportunity to both provide awareness and have the
opportunity to gain new volunteers. We have participated, along with the
Sarnia Kidney Foundation, in the Living Green Ribbon Event. |
