3RD Annual Christmas Home Tour
The Municipal Chapter of Sarnia-Lambton IODE is holding its Third Annual Christmas Home Tour. This self guided tour features festively decorated homes including "heritage" houses which showcase the beautiful craftsmanship of the era and reflect the early history of Sarnia and contemporary homes. There will be a Hospitality Centre at the Kiwanis Centre where you can enjoy shortbread and hot apple cider and browse through our Crafters' tables!
The tour is on Saturday, November 21st & Sunday, November 22nd, 2009, from 11 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $15.00 each and can be obtained from any IODE member or from the following local businesses (after September 1st):

The Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre (formerly Lochiel Street Public School) was designated under the Ontario's Heritage Act in 2000. It provides year round meeting and recreational facilitiesa hub for various activities for Sarnia and area residents.

A modern two storey home overlooking Lake Huron featuring an impressive foyer with an 18 foot ceiling. There is a view of Lake Huron from the front entrance and foyer and from most rooms. A three car carriage house is also on the property.

Built in 1962, this unique home backs into the Howard Watson Trail and features a contemporary "House Beautiful" lay-out and decor all over; greenhouse turned into a summer bedroom and Murano-glassware adorned dining room, plus a unique fireplace. Truly a home meant to be enjoyed by family and friends.

This two and a half storey Georgian style home was built in 1925 on land originally part of the "Vidal Estate." The building has many noteworthy architectural features; among them are the windows of intricate small pane arrangements and also a special fan transom, and facade entrance adorned by two large support columns.

Built in 1974, this contemporary five-bedroom home was on of the last Fazio-built homes using plaster construction as drywall was extensively used in the early 70's. A cedar-lined hot tub area was added in 1980, done by a local craftsmank, Rollie Budgel.

Highlighting this Georgian period home, built in 1923 by Chester Belton, owner of Belton Lumber Company, are rich wood embellishmentsfrom quarter-sawn oak flooring and walnut paneled library to a stunning bird's eye maple cabinet and closet. Kitchen and family room renovations in the 1980's were featured in an architectural magazine.
