WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU DOING THIS SUMMER?

Interested in doing something different? Something exciting?
Something DEFINITELY fun??

Why not try a little bit of globe-trotting right in your own backyard and host a Nacel exchange student from France or Spain? It’s the next best thing to actually traveling somewhere and you won’t even have to worry about packing or line-ups at the airport! Hey, with a bit of luck, you might even end up making some pretty cool friends and maybe even learn something new about their home country! Be a really nice host and you might even get invited back to visit them! Sound interesting? Read on…

Nacel is a cultural exchange organization formed in 1957 in France which now has offices in Germany, Ireland, Spain, Australia, Ivory Coast, Mexico and the U.S. Canada joined this international family in 1987 and since 1957, their have been over 225,000 participants world-wide.

The Nacel Summer Hosting Program offers Canadian families the possibility to host a student from France or Spain for a 4-week stay this summer. Families should be ready to welcome the student as part of the family, to share their home, to demonstrate Canadian lifestyle, to learn about another culture, to create international friendships and most of all, to have FUN! All members of the family benefit from the experience of sharing their lives with a European student. They gain a deeper awareness and appreciation of others, their similarities and differences.

All students coming form Europe have been studying English for a number of years. Their ages vary from 13 to 18 years old and while the older ones might be almost fluent, all of them are capable of basic English conversation.

Nacel provide medical and accident insurance to the European students as well as liability insurance to the host families. All students are chaperoned by an English teacher from Europe who acts as a liaison between the family and the student if any problems were to arise.

Families chosen to host are well screened and prepared before the students arrive. Addresses are exchanged so that correspondence may begin well before the students arrival in Canada.

Session 1 - July 2 to 30, 1998  and Session 2 - August 3 to 30, 1998

"We found the hosting experience to be great fun and a wonderful learning experience. We felt very comfortable with the student and he quickly became like one of the family, eager to learn and join in" (The Pillow Family)
Hosting in Canada
Welcome a student from France, Germany or Spain!

Nacel's Summer Hosting Program offers your family the opportunity to share your home and daily life with a teenager from Europe for four weeks during the summer of for a school year. You are invited to join the thousands of Nacel host families who have enjoyed exciting, unforgettable experiences since 1957.

Hosting an exchange student is a wonderful way to learn more about another country and gain a new perspective on the world. Everyday activities will be more dune when you share them with a student who is eager to discover the Canadian way of life. In addition, your whole family will grow as you exchange ideas and compare lifestyles. You'll discover a new way of looking at the world without leaving home!!

Why Choose Nacel's Hosting Program?

Nacel is dedicated to coordinating quality educational experiences for both host families and exchange students.

Nacel students come here to be with you, learn from you, and become your friend. You are not just a bed and breakfast, but the main course!

Hosting can be an economical way to have a world class experience! You can take your Nacel guest on vacation or stay home. Even an inexpensive picnic, softball game, or trip to the mail can be exciting when you share it with your guest.

Your student is focused on your family as opposed to group events with friends from home. During the Nacel homestay you are not burdened with attending or driving your guest to required activities.

Even though Nacel summer homestays are conveniently short, the friendships formed are lifelong!

The Nacel team consists of a strong support network of provincial coordinators, local representatives, and national offices in each country. We are ready to help you!
