Sarnia Young Naturalists Club A great big welcome to the 11 new members of the Lambton Young Naturalists Club. I had a great time with you and your family members on October 26th at the Dow Wetlands. I think my favorite part was catching insects and others organisms in the pond. Some of you were even brave enough to hold the crayfish we caught. Our next meeting will be November 19th at Sir John Moore School, Corunna. (6:30 - 8:00 pm) We will discuss and play games that explain the migration and hibernation of birds, insects and mammals. We will also touch on how people find their way around by using a map and compass. Our outdoor meeting will be held at Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area near Petrolia on November 23rd from 12:30 - 2:30pm. We will review how to orientate your map to your surroundings, how to take a compass reading and how the key is useful on your map before we spend approximately 1 hour on the orienteering course finding specific posts using our newly acquired orienteering skills. I hope all of you can participate! Please feel free to invite your family to the Orienteering Event. I will hand out maps showing the way to Lorne C. Henderson C.A. at our November 19th meeting. All equipment provided by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority. Please call 862-1804 if you have any questions regarding the club activities. Yours Outdoors |
