| In Memoriam
We were saddened to hear of the death of long time LWI member Bernice Bechold, wife of Bill, who died this past December at her home in Sarnia. Bill was the former owner and operator of Bluewater Printing where Earthways was printed for several years. Also he was responsible for the Zehr's tape program for many years. Our condoleances to Bill on his loss. As well we are sorry to report another long-time member loss, Don Whitman. Don was our legal counsel for many years particularly with our many contracts concerning the Carolinian Canada organization. He also advised us on how to protect the name of our newsletter EARTHWAYS. He did most of the legal work for the acquisition of the Karner Blue Sanctuary, the Port Franks Forested Dunes Nature Reserve and the Van Valkenburg property, all at no charge. Our sympathies are with Margaret and family. |

| Restore the Greatness!
Join the International Joint Commission on September 19-20, 2003 in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the 2003 IJC Biennial Meeting on Great Lakes Water Quality. Mark your calendars now! The IJC's Biennial Meeting has long been a forum for the Great Lakes and the people who care about their future. Our goal is to educate the Great Lakes basin community and energize its citizens to work together, along with governments at all levels, to carry out the purpose of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. At the meeting, basin residents will come together to celebrate progress, assess and comment on current action, share strategies for restoring the Areas of Concern and discuss new and emerging issues regarding the cleanup and restoration of the greatest body of fresh water on Earth.
