In the November issue of Earthways I presented a challenge to you since our Board approved a request by our Lambton-Kent school board to provide two environment awards to this year's graduating students. This request was made because there are two graduating classes this year, one grade 13 and one grade twelve. A memorial trust provides $500 a year for one bursary that goes to a Grade 13 student. However, we are in need of another $500 for a Grade 12 student. Since my article a little over $100 has been donated for the second bursary. I am asking you to consider a personal or a memorial gift to the LWI bursary fund before Spring. It is a great way to honour someone's death instead of the usual floral arrangement for the gift lasts much longer and the amount has more flexibility. I have used a memorial gift in-lieu of flowers for many years at our church and find the families very pleased. Please support this project so our grade 12 graduates will not be short-changed this year. Thank you. Don Smith, Past President |
