Small but mighty Photographed at Point Pelee, this Saw-Whet, the smallest of Ontario's owls (length, eight inches), is guarding a recent kill. Saw-Whets hunt small rodents and birds at night, often eating more than their own weight daily. They are rarely seen since they live in dense coniferous and mixed forests or wooded swamps, nesting in a woodpecker's hole. If spotted, they are relatively tame and easy to approach.
