OUTLINE OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Learning to Learn Differently Project: We are recruiting volunteers to begin working one on one with Senior Kindergarten and Grade One students who have been identified by their teacher as struggling. Tutors meet once or twice a week beginning in September with one student throughout the school year. All training and tutor materials provided.
Jump Math Program: Volunteers required to assist teacher
with helping children understand concepts. Time commitment required
once per week for period from October 2004 through April 2005. Superior
mathematical ability not required.
Board of Directors
· Responsible for the chapter's administrative affairs including fulfilling the vision and direction set out in the current operational plan; financial health; human resources; operations; and community relations
· Required to be a member in good standing (membership fee)
· An election process takes place at the A.G.M. yearly
· Executive and Director positions available
· Required to prepare for and attend monthly meetings
· Some standing and ad hoc committee work may be required
Standing Committees of the Board
· Appointments are made by the Board of Directors
- Required to be prepared to attend committee meetings as scheduled by the committee and chair of the committee
- Share in the overall responsibility of completing the committee's work in a timely and efficient manner
- Specific individual assignments may be given from time to time

- Train to be an assistant in Kid's Positive Program

- Train to co-facilitate Parenting Children with Learning Disabilities Program
- Assistant in the Resource Library
- Help with Chapter Newsletter-content and mail outs
- Assist with planned educational events
- Co-ordinate over workshop series
- Assist with workshop series-refreshments, advertising, speakers, set-up
- Train to be a Special Education Advisory Committee Representative
- Help develop a support group for LD adults
- Public speak about learning disabilities
- Other activities
Assisting Finance and Fundraising Committee
- Proposal Writing
- Help with Bingos
- Speaking to Service Groups about LDA-LC for funding purposes
- Solicitation of in-kind donations
- Raffles and draws
- Golf Tournaments
- Other Activities.
Assisting Personnel Management Committee
- Help with committee and board recruitment
- Co-ordinate membership records
- Help with volunteer training
- Other Activities
Assisting Public Relations Committee
- Media releases
