Parenting Children with Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD 5 Week FREE Program

The Parenting Program is a 5-week, 10-hour interactive parent advocacy course that will assist parents to:

  • understand different types of learning disabilities;
  • develop an understanding of legislation, systems and resources that may affect and assist children with learning disabilities;
  • understand their rights as a parent of a child with a learning disability, and
  • become a more confident advocate for their child/children.
Week 1: Welcome & Introduction. How Difficult Can This Be?
Week 2: What is a Learning Disability/ADHD?
Week 3: Types of Learning Disabilities and other disorders
Week 4: The Educational System: Understanding the Process
Week 5: Tools for Developing Effective Advocacy Skills

Please note there are gaps after week 3 and 4. This is designed to allow parents to have time to do their homework: to gather information from school and prepare their binders with information regarding their children.

The program is facilitated by a trained facilitator and advocate and runs during the school year in the evenings.
