Tell me about the concert For the past nine years two professional musicians, along with volunteers from the Sarnia high schools and the community at large, have given freely of their time to organize and present an annual fund-raising concert. Proceeds from the concerts have enabled high-school music students from Sarnia and Lambton County to attend Inter-provincial Music Camp near Parry Sound, Ontario. IMC, in operation for 41 years, provides the students nine days of living together in a complete musical environment with their professional coaches and teachers. Students experience the disciplined activity of music making as well as valuable social interaction with their peers from across Canada. This year's collaboration of professional musicians and music students took place on Sunday, March 3, 2002, at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, in Sarnia. We hope you were there! This concert marked our ninth anniversary. It is too soon to say how many students we will be able so send to IMC in 2002. However, the proceeds of last year's concert assisted us to subsidize the cost of sending 62 deserving students to IMC, and we had a full house fior this year's concert. Once again, Sarnia's profile at the camp last August was second only to that of Metropolitan Toronto. |
