Who is Guest Artist James Hill? James Hill has been on the faculty of The Ohio State University School of Music, in Columbus Ohio, since 1978 where he teaches applied saxophone, saxophone ensembles, and graduate courses in woodwind instrument literature. Prior to joining the faculty at Ohio State, he lead classes at Hartt College of Music in West Hartford, Connecticut, in saxophone and music education, and also conducted the Hartt Concert Band. During his summers, James has been a member of the faculty at Interprovincial Music Camp since 1980. Mr. Hill has performed and conducted master classes through the United States and has been a guest performer at the University of Western Ontario. He has appeared at numerous regional, national and international saxophone conferences as performer, lecturer and leading master classes. He performs with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared as a soloist with them as well. While attending Northwestern University, he studied saxophone with Frederick Hemke receiving his Bachelor of Music degree and appeared as soloist with the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra. James received a Master of Music degree from Ohio State University, while studying with Burdette Green. In addition to his musical pursuits, Jim is a member of the Ohio K9 Search Team, a volunteer organization that uses trained dogs to assist public agencies in locating lost persons and drowning victims. He has participated in over 30 missions, including three in January of 1999. |
