Who is Guest Artist Heather Morrison? Pianist Heather Morrison holds the position of Principal Keyboard with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and is an instructor in the Department of Music at Lakehead University. She also maintains the position of faculty accompanist/concert coordinator for both the Scarborough Music Camp and Interprovincial Music Camp. Heather has appeared frequently as soloist with the TBSO, and in recital she has collaborated with renowned national and international artists including violinists Erika Raum and Cho-Liang Lin, sopranos Monica Whicher and Nathalie Paulin, Swedish cellist John Ehde and Joakim Svenheden, the concertmaster of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Heather has appeared on the Music Umbrella Series (Toronto), in recital for Music Western (London), as part of the Lake of the Woods Concert Group Series (Kenora), and has performed for several years at the Stratford Festival. In 1993, Heather accompanied Peter Shackleton in his award winning recitals for the CBC Radio National Competition for Young Performers and was cited by the judges for her excellent ensemble playing. Subsequently she, Peter and Derek Conrod, hornist for Tafelmusik, have founded the chamber group ensemble "MuSiC in common". Born and raised in Espanola, Heather pursued her studies at the University of Western Ontario with Damjana Bratuz. Other teachers and strong musical influences have been Gyorgy Sebok, Bruce Vogt and Greta Kraus. |
