What are we aspiring to/ working towards? Creation of an enlightened and empowered Laity with a voice within the Diocese Laity playing a strong and vibrant role in the life of the Parishes, and outreach to the community-at-large. For the last few months or year, you have been on the Sarnia Justice Film Festival list in order to inform you of upcoming screenings. In order to make the work of the SJFF committee a bit simpler, we have set up a listserve on Google that enables us to send our notices out to a larger list than we can do through Outlook Express. You will or have already received a notice from Google to ask you if you wish to join the Google Group called Sarnia Justice Film Festival. We hope that you will join this group to enable us to easily notify you. Your e-mail address will remain confidential to others in this group and in other groups and you will not receive any more notices than you have been receiving from us. It will also be easier for you to remove yourself from the listserve or encourage and invite others to join. We hope you will join us for our first film of the season. See below for further information about that screening and the participating conversation leaders. If you would like a flyer e-mailed to you, please respond to the e-mail address: justicefilm@ebtech.net Thank you for taking the time to consider this request, Thea deGroot on behalf of Sarnia Justice Film Festival group
Sarnia Justice Film Festival Screening - Saturday, September 26, 7pm Sarnia Public Library Auditorium PG13 Call and Response www.justicefilmfestival.ca This documentary is about modern-day slavery. From the child brothels of Cambodia to the brick kilns of rural India, human trafficking is a grim reality of our time, not just a thing of the past. Human trafficking is a very profitable business that uses human beings as commodities to be bought and sold generating more income in 2007 than Google, Nike and Starbucks combined. This film is a rallying cry for a modern abolitionist movement, featuring many prominent figures from the worlds of politics and music. It is a reminder that true justice and freedom cannot happen for anyone until they happen for everyone. Free admission. Donations glady accepted. Conversation leaders after the screening will be representatives of: The Sarnia-Lambton Committee against Trafficking of Women and Children, the International Justice Mission and the Sexual Assault Survivors' Centre Sarnia-Lambton.
