Possession Or Trafficking?

High grade hydroponic marijuana will fetch between $1800.00 and $5000.00 a pound in British Columbia. The low of $250.00 is common and gram prices range between $10 and $20 per gram. For court purposes he ranges the plants projected yields at 2, 3, 4 and 5 ounces. This allows the courts a spectrum of possibilities. It is not uncommon to get plants producing 4 ounces per plant and Det. Const. Mann has heard of plants developing 16 ounces per plant.

If a grower has 50 plants, at a 2 ounce yield these 50 plants could supply 100 ounces of marijuana or 2835 grams or 6.25 pounds.

2835 grams, using a low end street value of $10.00 per gram = $28,350.00.

1 gram will produce 2 to 3 marijuana cigarettes. These 50 plants can make 5670 (or more) joints.

Even smoking 10 of these marijuana cigarettes per day it would take 567 days or 1 year and 202 days to smoke all of these marijuana cigarettes. The usual life expectancy of marijuana is about 6 months. Possession for personal consumption or illicit distribution? Know your facts.

The C.L.E.U.'s Project Energreens located 13 hydroponic marijuana grows under 100 plants and 7 grows exceeding 100 plants. This includes one assist whose values are not included. Doesn't sound like much? Wrong. The total amount of marijuana seized translates to 237,032 grams which at 3 joints per gram would equal 711,096 joints. Utilizing 3 joints per gram and usage of 2 joints per day 7 days per week this would indicate that the marijuana would supply these 19 growers for a total of 18,713 days or 51 years!!!!
